In a statement from NASCAR President Steve O’Donnell, we have learned that the horsepower of the Cup Series cars will increase to 750 HP at every track under a mile and a half as well as road courses.
This is a change that fans have asked for over the last few years since the inception of the NextGen car. In hopes that this will improve the product of racing, the NASCAR governing body listened.
The change will begin in the 2026 season, although two “short tracks” remain in 2025.
We will keep you up to date as we learn more about the rule change and how it will affect the series in the new year.
