PIKEVILLE, Ky. — An anonymous tip led to the discovery of a large amount of drugs and the arrest of three people.
Pikeville Police received a tip that three people staying at the Hatfield McCoy Lodge would be leaving with a large amount of drugs. Police staked out the motel and when they saw the subject car leave, they noticed the front seat passenger wasn’t wearing a seat belt, so they pulled the car over.
When the spoke to the driver — 39-year-old Gregory Lee Smith Jr., of Morehead — they noticed a hand-rolled cigarette in his lap, which police say turned out to be marijuana.
Officers then searched the car and found a large amount of meth in several containers, as well as a large amount of cash, plastic bags, three sets of digital scales, a stolen gun and another gun.
Smith; Joekeyta Jordan, 31, of Maysville; Anthony Bogucki, 36, of Lexington, were all arrested and charged with meth trafficking, possession of a gun by a convicted felon and receiving stolen property. Smith also faces several other traffic and other charges.
All three are being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
