PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Knott County man was arrested in Floyd County yesterday for drug trafficking, then found himself facing even more charges once he got to jail.

A state trooper clocked Marion Wade Martin, 52, of Hindman, driving 71 mph on U.S. 23 just outside of Prestonsburg. He attempted to pull him over, but wrote in his report that Martin kept going until he pulled into a Dollar General parking lot in Allen.

After he was stopped and the officer checked him for weapons, he found meth, fentanyl and pills. Martin was arrested for trafficking in meth and fentanyl, drug possession and other charges.

When he was being booked in the jail, he asked to use the restroom, so he was taken to be searched before being allowed to go. Before the guard could search him, he allegedly grabbed a plastic bag containing a golf ball-sized amount of heroin out of his back pocket and attempted to swallow it.

The drugs were seized and he was additionally charged with heroin possession, promoting contraband and tampering with evidence.
