KSP: Letcher woman’s death appears to be result of an animal attack

JEREMIAH, Ky. — Kentucky State Police is investigating, after a woman’s body was found early Sunday morning.

Police say Trina Sandlin, 57, of Jeremiah, left her home to visit a neighbor the evening before, but never came back. Family members found her body over an embankment along Doty Creek.

Police say her injuries appear consistent with some type of animal attack.

Sandlin’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for autopsy.

The incident remains under investigation by Det. Brandon Thomas, with KSP Post 13 in Hazard.
