LOOKOUT, Ky. — Things went from bad to worse for a Pike County couple who were in a car that was pulled over Wednesday night.

A state trooper was on patrol at Lookout, when he pulled over a car for having an expired tag. During the stop, the officer began to suspect the driver — identified as Jacob Easterling, 44, of Ashcamp — was intoxicated, so he asked him to step out.

The trooper wrote in his report that Easterling refused, then became increasingly belligerent. He was eventually pulled out of the car, but allegedly began fighting with officers.

His passenger — identified as his wife, 37-year-old Sarah Easterling — allegedly tried to interfere with the arrest, but was tackled and arrested. She then allegedly tried to run away, but was quickly subdued.

Jacob Easterling now faces numerous charges, including a felony count of assaulting a police officer. Sarah Easterling faces misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and fleeing police.

Both were booked in the Pike County jail.
