PIKEVILLE and PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — While candidates still have more than a month to file to run in next year’s election, the Pike County race for property valuation administrator has already been decided, and the same race in Floyd County will be over as soon as the incumbent files.

Pike County PVA Kevin Auton and Floyd County PVA David Layne will each be unopposed in their bids for re-election. That’s because candidates must pass a test with a score of 70 percent before being allowed to run for PVA, and no one has qualified to run against the incumbents.

Auton has already filed to seek another term. Layne has not, but he told Mountain Top News on Tuesday that he will file for another term at a later date.
