PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two Pike County residents face enhanced drug trafficking charges after police found nearly two ounces of fentanyl in the car during a traffic stop.

Jesse Thacker, 42, and Alycea Kendrick, 24, both of Pikeville, were arrested early Monday morning.

Police say they pulled over a vehicle that Kendrick was driving, and they found a bag containing 52 grams of fentanyl in the back floor. The police report said it was within easy reach of both of them, but both Thacker and Kendrick denied it was theirs.

They were arrested and charged with aggravated fentanyl trafficking.

Under Kentucky law, aggravated trafficking carries a sentence of between 10 and 20 years in prison, and anyone convicted of the crime must serve at least half of their sentence before being eligible for parole.
