BIG STONE GAP, Va. — A southwestern Virginia man has entered a guilty plea to federal charges regarding a scheme to smuggle drugs into the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail at Duffield.

Sherman David Woods, 41, pleaded guilty this week to conspiracy to distribute meth and conspiracy to distribute suboxone.

Woods admitted to helping arrange drug drops at a local county park, where another inmate would collect them while out on a jail work crew.

Woods will now face a sentence of between 21 and 27 months when he is sentenced Jan. 17.
