PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County woman is in jail, after leading police on a high-speed chase through downtown Pikeville.

A Pikeville Police officer spotted a car traveling north on U.S. 23 at a speed of 75 miles an hour around 11 p.m. Sunday. The officer followed the car, which took exit 23 onto Hambley Boulevard without slowing down.

That led to a chase down Hambley Boulevard, through the University of Pikeville campus, back across Hambley and into the Pikeville Medical Center parking lot, before heading along Harold’s Branch to a trailer park on Granite Drive.

The driver, identified as Rhiannon Thacker, 33, of Pikeville, then jumped out of the car and tried to run, but tripped and fell, and was subsequently arrested.

Thacker reportedly told police she had snorted a line of meth before going to town.

She now faces a long list of charges, including DUI, fleeing police and numerous traffic violations.
