Martin County man convicted in federal gun case

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Jurors found Martin County man guilty of federal gun charges, following a three-day trial.

Mardy Mollett Jr., 52, of Tomahawk, was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of possession of a firearm by a drug user, after he was discovered to have had four handguns. The jury returned a guilty verdict to all four counts.

Mollett now faces a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years for each count, as well as forfeiture of the weapons. He will be sentenced in March.
