PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — Prestonsburg Police and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office worked together to arrest two men for drug trafficking.
Just after 1:30 Wednesday morning, a Prestonsburg Police officer pulled over a vehicle along Route 114 for an equipment violation.
During the resulting stop, the officer learned the driver –identified as Brian Cantrell, 31, of Staffordsville — had a suspended license. He also found out the passenger — identified as Shawn Easley, 32, of Paducah — had several active arrest warrants.
The officer requested that the sheriff’s office bring a K-9 officer “Bear” to the scene, and the dog alerted on more than 66 grams combined of heroin and fentanyl.
Both men claimed to have no knowledge of the drugs, so the officer arrested both of them for trafficking in heroin and fentanyl, as well as a number of lesser charges.
