PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man who was previously indicted on charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence after a missing woman’s body was found near his home, has now been charged with murder.
Back on Dec. 27, authorities found the body of Clara Morgan O’Brien, 39, of Feds Creek, wrapped in plastic bags and stuffed in a drain pipe near the Lick Creek home of 44-year-old Chadwick Hunt.
O’Brien had been missing since Dec. 19th. An autopsy showed she died after being stabbed and beaten.
After giving police several stories, Hunt ultimately claimed that O’Brien had been killed at his home by another person and that he had helped get rid of the body several days later.
He was indicted on the evidence tampering and abuse of a corpse charges back in March, but on Thursday, a grand jury also charged him with murder in a superseding indictment.
Hunt is due to appear in court Sept. 15 to answer the new charge. He remains in the Pike County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond.
