SIDNEY, Ky. — A Pike County man wanted in a pair of cases has been arrested, but not before leading police on a high speed chase and crashing his motorcycle twice.
Police clocked a motorcycle going 100 mph on U.S. 119 at Sidney just before 3 a.m. Thursday. Troopers attempted to pull over the bike, but it failed to stop and managed to get away.
A few minutes later, they got a report of a motorcycle crash at the Aflex bridge, but the bike was gone by the time they arrived on the scene. They found the bike a short time later and the chase began again, but the motorcycle missed a curve and crashed on the railroad tracks.
The motorcycle operator, 28-year-old Austin Heath Phillips, of Mouthcard, was arrested and charged with fleeing police, resisting arrest and numerous traffic violations. Police also discovered he was wanted for a burglary back on Aug. 26, as well as fleeing the scene of an accident in a crash Sept. 7 that caused the other driver to lose an arm.
Phillips is being held in the Pike County Detention Center.
